GET TO KNOW

West Coast Indigenous Teacher

Éy swayel (hello)!

I’m Zoe, a Nuučaan̓ułʔatḥ First Nations educator, author, and creator of West Coast Indigenous Teacher. Nuučaan̓ułʔatḥ, pronounced “nuu-chah-nulth,” means “all along the mountains and sea.”

I create Indigenous education resources for K-12 educators that help bring Indigenous content into classrooms with greater confidence, care, and cultural understanding. My work in education has shaped my approach to meaningful learning, connection to land, and representing Indigenous Peoples as diverse and present day.

I’m also a parent who loves exploring the outdoors with my little ones. Our time outside continues to inspire my passion for outdoor education, land-based learning, and helping children build stronger relationships with the natural world.

When I am not creating, I am likely:

Why I Create Indigenous Education Resources

My goal is to help K-12 educators feel more confident teaching Indigenous content with care and intention. I create Indigenous education resources and classroom activities that provide meaningful cultural context, engage students, and are practical for busy teachers to use. Together, we can help students develop a deeper understanding of Indigenous Peoples, histories, cultures, and perspectives throughout the school year.
