Instagram has been humbling me lately 😂 Apparently about four of you are seeing my posts right now, so this one is for the four of you.

I saw this Dolly Parton quote the other day and immediately thought about this summer.

I love my work. I love creating things and building this little business of mine. And if I’m not careful, I could probably find something to work on every single day.

But this summer had a lot of reminders that there is a whole life happening outside of my to do list.

Road trips. Ocean days. Mountains. Whales. Too much coffee. Time back on the west coast. Watching my kids explore places I love. Taking my camera everywhere. Staying out later because the light was too pretty to go inside.

I definitely didn’t have a perfectly unplugged summer. But I made a life, too.

And I’m really glad I did. 🥰

It's about creating opportunities for learning throughout the year. Through books we choose, the voices we cpentre, the history we teach, and the conversations we have with our students.

One of the biggest things I hear from educators is

One of the biggest things I hear from educators is: "I want to do this well, but I'm worried about getting it wrong."

That care matters. Teaching Indigenous perspectives doesn't require knowing everything, it requires a willingness to keep learning, listen to Indigenous voices and use your role as an educator thoughtfully.

You don't have to wait until you feel like an expert to begin ☺️
