I’m so excited to finally share something that’s been close to my heart. The Indigenous Nature Alphabet, a hand-drawn colouring book that blends art, learning, land, and language in a way that I hope feels both meaningful and accessible to all ages. If you’re searching for Indigenous books for kids that foster connection to culture and nature, this is one to explore.
This book began as a way for me to reconnect with my roots, as a First Nations educator, artist, and adoptee reclaiming my cultural identity. It became part of my personal healing. Now, I’m honoured to offer it to classrooms, families, and communities looking for Indigenous books for kids that centre land-based learning and cultural pride.

What’s Inside the Book?
Each page of the Indigenous Nature Alphabet features a beautifully illustrated letter. These letters highlight plants, animals, and items important to Indigenous life. From A for abalone, antler, and alder to Z for words that carry language and land, every spread invites reflection and conversation.
Next to each colouring page, you’ll find gentle explanations that share the deeper meaning behind each element. This helps learners understand not only what they’re colouring, but why it matters. It’s one of those Indigenous books for kids that encourages deeper thinking, cultural connection, and respect for the natural world.
At the back of the book, I’ve included a few activities perfect for younger readers.

Who It’s For
Whether you’re a teacher, a parent, a homeschooler, or someone who simply loves Indigenous learning and art, this book was created for you. It gently weaves together themes of culture, nature, and language; making it a beautiful addition to any collection of Indigenous books for kids.
It’s a wonderful gift for:
- Educators introducing Indigenous content with care
- Children exploring nature through art
- Families wanting to learn together
- Adults who enjoy mindful colouring with meaning

Why This Book Matters
This isn’t just an alphabet. It’s a way to reconnect with the land. To honour the plants, animals, and stories that shape our identities. To invite others into a learning journey rooted in respect, beauty, and belonging.
Every drawing and word in this book was made by me, Zoe, a First Nations artist and educator, as part of my own story of reconnection. And now it’s yours to explore.
