Connect Northern Lights Science and Art

Students learn how interactions between the Sun, Earth’s magnetic field and gases in the atmosphere create the colourful lights known as the Aurora Borealis.

After completing the science lesson, students explore how the Northern Lights have been understood through cultural stories and perspectives. They then create their own Northern Lights art inspired by the work of the featured artist.
