Build culture, connection and community with Our Stories: An Indigenous Student Gathering Circle. This meaningful Indigenous student identity activity gives Indigenous students a supportive space to introduce themselves, reflect on where they come from and share the people, places, cultures and teachings that shape who they are.
Students can create an Our Stories page using thoughtful prompts about their family, Nation or community, traditional territory, languages, cultural connections, favourite traditions and personal strengths. Completed pages can be shared during a classroom or school gathering circle to help students learn about one another and celebrate the diversity of Indigenous identities.
This resource is designed with flexibility and care. Students should always be able to choose what they feel comfortable sharing, and no student is expected to speak for their Nation, family or Indigenous peoples as a whole.
