September 30 matters.

But Indigenous education cannot begin and end with residential schools, Orange Shirt Day, or one day on the calendar.

Our students deserve to learn the truth about residential schools and colonialism. They also deserve opportunities to learn about living Indigenous cultures, languages, knowledge, art, community, joy, resistance, and futures.

Indigenous Peoples are not only part of Canada’s past. We are here now.

Tomorrow, wear orange. Remember. Learn.

And then keep going. 🧡

Okayyy I had to keep the backpack in the photo so you could actually see how BIG this turns out 😂

This collaborative Orange Shirt Day puzzle is made from 25 individual student pieces and comes together to create one large shirt display.

I included a few different versions so you can choose what works best for your class:

• a blank version for colouring or decorating
• a writing prompt version
• a version where students can add their names

Each student completes one piece, then the class puts them all together to create the finished shirt.

A simple way to get everyone involved in the learning leading up to September 30th 🧡

Would you use the blank version or the writing prompt version with your class?

Who’s ready to make September 30th feel a little more meaningful this year? 🧡

Sharing two simple Orange Shirt Day writing crafts that give students space to reflect, create, and have thoughtful conversations together.

Simple, meaningful, and easy to use with your class. ✏️

My work is currently featured at the Richmond Cultural Centre @howartworks

I was invited to create an educational display focused on Indigenous history, truth and reconciliation, respectful learning, and ways to continue the learning beyond September 30th.

I spend so much of my time creating resources for classrooms from behind a computer screen, so seeing my work printed, displayed, and being read by people in the community feels pretty surreal.

Very grateful for this opportunity 🤍
